Red Garden Food Paradise, Penang [Malaysia]
Much like Singapore, Penang has a pretty awesome reputation for serving some of the most delicious, finger-licking good food in Asia. Instead of heading to the more famous Gurney Drive (Persiaran Gurney), we were lazy and dropped by Red Garden Food Paradise instead. Located a short 5-minute walk away from Eastern & Oriental Hotel (my review here), Red Garden is a convenient place to pick up all your cravings all under one roof!
While you’re able to find plenty of good food along Jalan Penang, Red Garden Food Paradise is what I’ll call a hawker centre back in Singapore.
The two of us pretty much went crazy here and went on an eating spree! Below is a small selection of the food that you’ll find at Penang’s Red Garden Food Paradise.
Chicken Satay! It is basically is a dish of seasoned, skewered and grilled meat, served with a (typically peanut) sauce.
Chee Cheong Fun. In English, it should roughly translate to rice noodle roll, or steamed rice noodles that’s doused with a generous serving of sesame seed and sweet sauce.
Hokkien Prawn Noodles – Looked delicious, but tasted pretty meh.
Rojak. A traditional fruit and vegetable salad dish.
Assam Curry Fish Head – The best food item for the night!
Fried Oyster Omelette. Not stingy at all with the huge oysters here.
Found a little space to stuff in desert in the form of cheap ice cream waffle. Totally bloated by now.
All this food has left me longing for some Penang street food. If you’re not too picky about food, I’m sure there are a couple of hidden gems here at Penang’s Red Garden Food Paradise to satisfy your cravings!
